Television wishes you a happy New Year! That’s right, the wide world of TV has a veritable bounty of new and returning programs for us to binge this year. HBO Max is the perfect place for fantasy-loving fans.‘s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon and Amazon’s long-awaited Lord of the Rings series hitting Prime Video to look forward to, while comedy nerds can bask in the returns of HBO’s Barry and Apple TV+‘s Ted Lasso. Three of Netflix‘s biggest hits, Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and The Crown are also coming back this year, while new series like Halo and Pam & Tommy are hoping to win viewers over.

We couldn’t narrow down our list to only 22 titles because there are so many great shows that 2022 will be hyped. Honorable mentions that we’re also amped for include everything from Atlanta Season 3 and the launch of Hulu’s How I Met Your Father to upcoming “ripped-from-the-headlines”The Dropout and Inventing Anna. Sanditon’s long-awaited return on Masterpiece on PBS is also anticipated.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of TV to get excited about streaming in 2022. Get your remotes and couch cushions ready. Here are the 22 shows we’re most hyped about streaming in 2022…

Season 2 of ‘Euphoria”

Photo: HBO

Release Date: January 9, 2009
Streaming Service: HBO Max
Cast: Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney
Why We’re Hyped: Euphoria is way more than your standard sexy teen drama. It’s an artistically experimental series full of ground-breaking performances and dazzling visuals. It also stars Zendaya, an Emmy-winning superstar. In Season 2, where will Rue and her frenemies and friends be found? It’s probably in a bad area, which is ripe for the kind of disturbing, thought provoking drama Euphoria does well.

Season 4 of ‘Ozarks’

Release Date: January 22,
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner
Why We’re Hyped: Ozark’s fourth season is also set to be its final season, meaning that all bets are off. Lead characters can die. It is possible to be too light with secrets. The picture might get a little lighter. Do you think this show has to be so dark? Seriously, though, Netflix’s brilliant crime caper is bound to send jaws dropping and critters flying in its final season.

‘Pam & Tommy’

Photo: Hulu

Release Date: February 2
Streaming Service: Hulu
Cast: Lily James, Sebastian Stan, Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman
Why We’re Hyped: The Pamela Anderson/Tommy Lee sex tape scandal defined the ‘90s in a truly sleazy way. This new limited series, from the creative minds behind I, Tonya, already looks to be reframing the scandal as a truly amoral invasion of privacy. The first trailer and photos from this project also tease that English actress Lily James — who suffered through her own ordeal with the press in 2020 — not only nailed Pam’Her iconic look but her sweet, beleaguered spirit.

Season 4 of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”

Photo: Prime Video

Release Date: February 18, 2008
Streaming Service: Prime Video
Cast: Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Luke Kirby, Tony Shalhoub
Why We’re Hyped: In many ways, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is Prime Video’s flagship show: a critically-acclaimed delight full of great performances and even better style. Midge was a disaster in the Season 3 finale, making it an underdog for the very first time since Season 1. We’re excited to see how Midge handles the turbulent ‘60s (and if maybe she’Are you on the road to breaking bad?).

‘Halo’

Photo: Paramount+

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Paramount+
Cast: Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, Ferien Ha, Bokeem Woodbine
Why We’re Hyped: Hollywood has been trying to bring the super popular video game series Halo to the screen for years, and it’s finally happening. Pablo Schreiber is the Master Chief, while Natascha McElhone plays Dr. Catherine Halsey. Early teasers suggest that Paramount+’s sci-fi epic will be visually stunning and packed with action. This sounds a lot like Halo!

‘Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty’

Photo: Max

Release Date: March 2022
Streaming Service: HBO Max
Cast: John C. Reilly, Jason Clarke, Quincy Isaiah, Gaby Hoffmann
Why We’re Hyped: Adam McKay’s new HBO series about the behind-the-scenes drama during the Lakers’ golden era has all the makings of our next sports-related obsession. It’s got an all-star cast, real life scandals driving the storyline, and a Last Dance-esque cast of epic characters. It’s also the project that ruined Adam McKay and Will Ferrell’s friendship, so we’re hoping it’s good! (And the two friends make up soon!)

Season 2 of “Bridgerton”

Release Date: March 25,
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Simone Ashley, Claudia Jessie, Phoebe Dynevor
Why We’re Hyped: Bridgerton Season 1 was a breakthrough hit for Netflix and a testament to the power of the romance genre. While we’ll miss Regé-Jean Page’s Duke, book readers know that the steamiest storylines in Julia Quinn’s series are yet to come. Bridgerton Season 2 will be about Anthony, the Bridgerton eldest sibling, as he tries to find a wife. What stands in his way? The feisty Kate Sharma, who wants nothing more than to hold the Viscount’s feet to the fire.

‘WeCrashed’

Photo: Apple TV+

Release Date: Early 2022
Streaming Service: Apple TV+
Cast: Anne Hathaway, Jared Leto, America Ferrara
Why We’re Hyped: WeWork was once one of the most successful start ups in the country, but somewhere it all went wrong. Jared Leto, an Oscar-winning actor, and Anne Hathaway are the stars of the dysfunctional couple who founded the company and then forced it to fall from grace. We’re excited for the drama, but mostly for the performances.

Season 3 of “Barry”

HBO

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: HBO Max
Cast: Bill Hader, Henry Winkler, Anthony Carrigan, Sarah Goldberg
Why We’re Hyped: Bill Hader’s dark comedy about a hitman who discovers a love for acting dazzled us in the first two critically-acclaimed seasons, but COVID pushed production on the third season back. Finally, we’ll be reunited with the likes of NoHo Hank, Sally, and all the other strange characters in Barry’s world. Barry has the rare combination of humor and heart that we all need lately.

“House of the Dragon”

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: HBO Max
Cast: Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans
Why We’re Hyped: Even though Game of Thrones left a sour note in many fans’ mouths, you can’t deny that we’re still hungry for Targaryen drama. House of the Dragon promises all that as it chronicles the events surrounding the most bitter Targaryen family feud, the greatest civil war in Westeros’ history. Don’t miss the dragon fights!

‘Andor’

Photo: Disney+

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Disney+
Cast: Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Starsgard
Why We’re Hyped: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a movie that, quite simply, slaps. It introduced a ragtag of Rebels who sacrificed their lives to set Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker up for success in Star Wars. Andor is going to be a prequel series about the life of Cassian Andor before his final act of rebellion and we’re hoping it will shine a new light on the more shadow-y parts of Rebel Alliance history.

‘The Sandman’

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Charles Dance, Kirby Howell-Baptiste
Why We’re Hyped: The Sandman may very well be Neil Gaiman’s masterpiece and early looks at the Netflix adaptation’s set, production design, and cast seem promising. The Sandman is a epic of a century, filled with dark magic, family strife and pockets of truly gnarly terror. It will be riveting if Netflix can pull this off.

‘Ms. Marvel’

Photo: Disney+

Release Date: Summer 2022
Streaming Service: Disney+
Cast: Iman Vellani, Matt Lintz, Fawad Khan, Aramis Knight
Why We’re Hyped: Ms. Marvel is set to bring one of the most popular new heroes in Marvel comics to the MCU. Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, was a Pakistani-American teenager who suddenly gains superpowers. Kamala draws inspiration from Captain Marvel and becomes a hero of her own. Ms. Marvel has the potential to be Disney+’s most charming and joyous MCU show yet.

Season 3 of ‘The Boys’

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Prime Video
Cast: Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Karl Urban, Jensen Ackles
Why We’re Hyped: The Boys Season 2 established the dark superhero series as one of the few dramas with the balls to confront the ugly side of corporate-sponsored heroism. Season 3 is set to build on those morally grey themes with the introduction of The Boys’s version of Captain America, Jensen Ackles’s Soldier Boy. Consider us stoked.

Season 3 of “Ted Lasso”

Photo: Apple TV+

Summer 2022 Release Date
Streaming Service: Apple TV+
Cast: Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple
Why We’re Hyped: Ted Lasso Season 2 ended with a stinger that promised two actual villains for Coach Lasso and his friends to battle in Season 3: Anthony Head’s Rupert and his new club’s coach, Nate. The positive message of Ted Lasso will be tested on and off the pitch. It is also worth noting that the third season of this popular show is supposed to be its final. All that happens in Ted Lasso Season 3 is permanent.

Season 4 of ‘Stranger Things.

Release Date: Summer 2022
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink
Why We’re Hyped: It’s been so long since the last season of Stranger Things that the kids of Hawkins are now young adults. Nevertheless, we’re still dying to find out how Hopper survived, how “Papa”Will be back and if El or Mike will get together again. We have been anticipating this season on Netflix for years, and we are confident it will be worth the wait.

Untitled “Lord of the Rings” Show

Photo: Amazon Studios

Release Date: September 2
Streaming Service: Prime Video
Cast: Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Joseph Mawle, Nazanin Boniadi
Why We’re Hyped: Years ago, Amazon spent an enormous fortune securing the TV rights to JRR Tolkien’s Middle Earth and for years they’ve been working to perfect this eagerly-anticipated show. We know only that this lavish series will take place in the Second Age. This time is a time of mystery and the Silmarillion. The idea of seeing these mythic characters, locations, and battles brought to life should enchant everyone — not just Tolkien mega-fans.

‘Moon Knight’

Photo: Disney+

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Disney+
Cast: Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel
Why We’re Hyped: Moon Knight is about a vigilante who is as haunted by his superpowers as he is strengthened by them. Marvel has confirmed that Marc Spector will be played by Oscar Isaac. Moon Knight’s powers stem from Ancient Egyptian sources. He can hear voices in his head and battles the darker side of MCU. Moon Knight will not be the same as the upbeat, zany shows that the MCU has provided so far.

‘Secret Invasion’

Photo: Disney+

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Disney+
Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Ben Mendelsohn
Why We’re Hyped: Ever since Captain Marvel introduced the Skrulls, Marvel fans have been hoping to see a full out version of the comic book event Secret Invasion. Well, it’s finally happening. Samuel L. Jackson will be joined by major stars like Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and others for the series. This will likely cause you to rethink everything that you know about the MCU.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Photo: Disney+

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: Disney+
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Sung Kang, Joel Edgerton
Why We’re Hyped: Of all the new Star Wars titles, none is more exciting than Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor will be returning to the Jedi-robed role of Ben Kenobi in order to discover what good ole Ben was doing on Tatooine during the decades between Star Wars Episode III and IV. Hayden Christensen will also reprise the role as Darth Vader. Early concept art teases another fateful duel between these two former friends.

Season 2 of ‘The Flight Attendant’

Release Date: 2022
Streaming Service: HBO Max
Cast: Kaley Cuoco, Rosie Perez, Zosia Mamet
Why We’re Hyped: The Flight Attendant was one of the first big fun hits for HBO Max, combining sharp comedy, thrilling twists, and one groundbreaking performance from Kaley Cuoco. Although the show was originally intended to be a short-term series, it gained popularity and was given a second season. What will The Flight Attendant’s new season look like? We’re not sure and that might be the reason we’re so excited. The Flight Attendant is one of the shows that keeps us on the edge.

Season 5 of ‘The Crown’

Release Date: November 2022
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Dominic West, Elizabeth Debicki
Why We’re Hyped: Every season of The Crown is full of juicy royal drama, but The Crown Season 5 might be the most scandalous yet. We’re getting the Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorce, people! That means the Panorama interview! Maybe Fergie is getting her toes sucked! It’s the Queen’s worst year ever and you can bet The Crown won’t shy away from how bad it got behind closed doors. Early set photos also tease that Elizabeth Debicki’s ‘90s version of Diana may be even more on point than Emmy-winner Emma Corrin’s. We can’t wait to sip tea and watch this season unfold.
