A man armed with an ax and a sword attempted to enter the offices of The New York Times in Manhattan on Thursday, police told The Associated Press.
The New York Police Department confirmed to the that the man forced his way into the lobby of the newspaper’s 8th Avenue office building. He wanted to speak to political reporters at the outlet, the NYPD told the .
The man later handed over his weapons after being refused entry and was later taken to hospital for evaluation, the reported.
A Times representative told the that he was grateful to the NYPD “for responding to an incident in our lobby that was resolved quickly and peacefully.”
