We haven’t seen the last of Heisenberg and Jesse Pinkman.
Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould has officially confirmed that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return in the final season of the popular Breaking Bad spinoff series on AMC.
Gould was on a panel for Better Call Saul on Saturday at PaleyFest LA when he announced the news. He wouldn’t, however, elaborate on the details of their appearance.
“I don’t want to spoil things for the audience, but I will say the first question we had when we started the show was, ‘Are we gonna see Walt and Jesse on the show?’ Instead of evading, I’ll just say yeah,” Gould said on the panel moderated by Variety. “How or the circumstances or anything, you’ll just have to discover that for yourself, but I have to say that’s one of many things that I think you’ll discover this season.”
“If you can believe it, there’s more,” said actor Bob Odenkirk, who plays the show’s shifty lawyer Jimmy McGill, but Gould cut him off before he said too much.
Gould and his co-creator Vince Gilligan had dropped hints on the red carpet of the Better Call Saul premiere on Thursday. “These two worlds cross over in a way that you haven’t seen before, that’s for sure,” said Gould.
Gilligan added: “It would be a damn shame if the show ended without [Cranston and Paul] appearing, would it not?”
“I personally feel that the two shows — ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’ — are entwined even more than ever in the final season,” said Odenkirk. “And I think that’s surprising and cool, and it’s gonna make you want to watch ‘Breaking Bad’ again.”
During the panel it was also revealed that Rhea Seehorn and Giancarlo Esposito directed the fourth and sixth episodes of this season, respectively.
A number of other characters from Breaking Bad have made cameos in Better Call Saul throughout its first five seasons, including Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), Don Eladio (Luis Politti) and the Salamanca twins (Luis and Daniel Moncada). Fans also got to see Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) and Steven Gomez (Steven Michael Quezada) return in Season 5.
